Deodorant marks.
White marks on darks, yellow marks on whites. Each needs a different way.
- First: a dry cloth
- Wash: up to 30°C, inside out
What to do right away.
- 1On darks: gently rub the white mark with a clean, dry part of the same garment.
- 2Or wipe it with a dry pair of nylon tights.
- 3On whites, yellow underarm marks are usually sweat and deodorant together: see sweat stains.
What not to do.
- Don’t get dressed before the deodorant dries.
That’s how the white marks happen.
- No bleach on yellow marks.
It can make them darker.
- Don’t iron the spot.
Heat sets the stain for good.
In the machine, with the sheet.
- 1Turn the garment inside out.
- 2Put one sheet in the drum with the clothes. For a bigger or dirtier load, see how many sheets.
- 3Wash at up to 30°C, as the care label says.
- 4Before drying, check the spot. If the stain still shows, repeat the steps and wash it again.
Always follow the garment’s care label. Silk, wool and “dry clean only” clothes go to the dry cleaner.
