Grass stains.

The knees of your jeans, the football socks. A grass stain needs cold water and a little patience.

  • First: cold water
  • Wash: as the care label says

What to do right away.

  1. 1Shake off any soil or grass left on the fabric.
  2. 2Rinse with cold water from the back.
  3. 3Leave it in a basin of cold water for 30 minutes.

What not to do.

  • No hot water at first.

The stain “binds” to the fabric.

  • Don’t scrub hard.

The fibres open up and the stain goes deeper.

  • No tumble dryer until it’s gone.

Heat sets the stain for good.

In the machine, with the sheet.

  1. 1Put one sheet in the drum with the clothes. For a bigger or dirtier load, see how many sheets.
  2. 2Wash at the temperature on the care label.
  3. 3Before drying, check the spot. If the stain still shows, repeat the steps and wash it again.

Always follow the garment’s care label. Silk, wool and “dry clean only” clothes go to the dry cleaner.

How many sheets to use
