Wine stains.
Red wine spreads through fabric fast. Soak it up before it dries.
- First: blotting
- Wash: as the care label says
What to do right away.
- 1Blot with a clean cloth or paper, from the edge towards the middle, without rubbing.
- 2Rinse with plenty of cold water from the back.
- 3Blot again until no more colour comes off on the cloth.
What not to do.
- Don’t rub.
The wine spreads into a bigger ring.
- No hot water at first.
Heat helps the wine’s colour stay in the fabric.
- No tumble dryer until it’s gone.
Heat sets the stain for good.
In the machine, with the sheet.
- 1If the stain has dried, soak it in cold water for 30 minutes.
- 2Put one sheet in the drum with the clothes. For a bigger or dirtier load, see how many sheets.
- 3Wash at the temperature on the care label.
- 4Before drying, check the spot. If the stain still shows, repeat the steps and wash it again.
Always follow the garment’s care label. Silk, wool and “dry clean only” clothes go to the dry cleaner.
Strong cleaning in one sheet.
