Chocolate stains.
Chocolate has fat and milk in it. First you lift it off, then you wash with cold water.
- First: scrape off the excess
- Wash: as the care label says
What to do right away.
- 1Let the chocolate harden, or put the garment in the fridge for a while, then scrape off the excess with a spoon.
- 2Rinse with cold water from the back.
- 3Add a drop of washing-up liquid for the fat and work it in gently.
Try it first on a spot that doesn’t show.
What not to do.
- No hot water at first.
The chocolate melts and goes deeper into the fabric.
- Don’t rub while it’s soft.
It spreads.
- No tumble dryer until it’s gone.
Heat sets the stain for good.
In the machine, with the sheet.
- 1Put one sheet in the drum with the clothes. For a bigger or dirtier load, see how many sheets.
- 2Wash at the temperature on the care label.
- 3Before drying, check the spot. If the stain still shows, repeat the steps and wash it again.
Always follow the garment’s care label. Silk, wool and “dry clean only” clothes go to the dry cleaner.
